Among Europe’s most famed skiing resorts, Val d’Isre features 437 kilometres of pistes. The season starts in Nov and terminates in mid May. The high altitude purpose built French village provides for all your needs. The town stretches through the vale from La Daille until Le Fornet with the apres ski in the centre of Val d’Isere. The clustering of attractive chalets comprise chic boutiques many of which have sprung up since the resort was voted for the winter olympics.
Broken into three parts Val d’Isre has enough runs for all levels of skiers. Like Chamonix France Val d’Isere has a great historical snow record, the town is hugely fashionable amongst pro skiers and piste hungry intermediates, however you don’t need to be particularly experienced to savor what’s there. One can easily see why a lot of British are attracted to the mountain, with its varied nightlife and the choice of entertainment on offer, furthermore the close proximity of Tignes permits you to venture out to calmer climes if it all gets a bit much.
Pros
A superior night out in the Alps. Everybody talks English. Quick approach to Val d’Isre and Tignes known collectively as the the Espace Killy skiing area. There’s a lot of traffic and whilst there are frequent buses in the day, dedicated party animmals should head to be within walking distance from the town.
Cons
Dear. Busy and fashionable with English tourists, so not for people wanting a typical French ski town to relish a calming holiday. Many ski lifts can shut in windy conditions. Some challenging blue and green pistes.
